Build a starter kit of fifth grade school supplies and add to it as needed before the school year begins.
The fifth grade teachers at Huggins Elementary will typically update their school supplies list on a yearly basis, we
try to update this list accordingly however we advise you to check with your child's fifth grade teacher and double check with the school, Huggins Elementary, to see if there have been any changes to this year's fifth grade supply list.
A couple of things to keep in mind when ordering your fifth grade supplies, comsumable school supplies tend to run out long before the school year ends so take advantage of the back to school
offers and stock up on the basic supplies, your child's fifth grade teacher at Huggins Elementary will thank you for that, and more importantly, your child's presence is the most important thing, the supplies are fifth to that and your teacher will
be more than understanding if you are unable to purchase all of the supplies on the list. Have a wonderful, safe and happy school year!
One of the most important pieces of information for you every school year is the Lamar Cisd District Academic Calendar. There, you will find your child's schedule for the entire school year including holidays, staff development days, half days, testing days, fifth and last day of school, etc. See the calendar for Lamar Cisd below.
This spring, Lamar CISD formed a District Transition Team consisting of 31 District and campus leaders to develop an educational framework for the 2020-2021 school year.
The Transition Team is examining a wide variety of educational options that will support our families and the continuing education of our students. These options include traditional, remote learning and hybrid options.
The District knows there is much uncertainty and many questions regarding the 2020-2021 school year and your patience is appreciated as we remain thoughtful in our planning process.
Regular communication with state officials is ongoing and we are expecting specific guidance on reopening schools from the Texas Education Agency on June 23. This should include information on class size flexibilities, social distancing and other associated guidelines.
In the meantime, we know the input of parents and teachers is an important aspect of this work. This is why two surveys were launched on June 17—one for Lamar CISD parents and another for Lamar CISD teachers.
Once the Transition Team reviews this feedback and receives the upcoming guidance from the state, the intent is to update our families with enough time and information to collectively plan for the fall.
“We realize these are challenging times and we all want what is best for students,” said Dr. Thomas Randle, Superintendent of Schools. “No matter what instruction looks like next fall, our focus is on the health of our students and staff, and the continuity of high-quality instruction. We know our community is resilient, and working together, our students will continue to receive the academic and emotional support they need.”
The District is also examining the associated logistics of regularly disinfecting campuses, buses, school supplies and athletic equipment, pre-screening students and staff, enforcing social distancing guidelines, and ensuring all Lamar CISD families have access to learning materials.
